Young People leading community-led pathways to Collective Action.

Future Making is an emerging participatory workshop series designed to bring young people and their communities together to imagine different possibilities and explore practical pathways towards making them happen.

Through creative activities, collective learning and practical tools, the series invites participants to question existing ways of living and organising, recognise the knowledge and capabilities already within their communities, and consider what they could create or change together.

What could our communities look like if care, collective agency, shared responsibility and wellbeing shaped the way we confront the climate crisis and community disruption. What would need to change, and what could we begin together?

What is it?

Rather than arriving with predetermined solutions, Future Making Workshops creates space for communities to explore their own aspirations, strengthen local relationships and develop ideas for collective action.

The workshops are designed to be creative, welcoming and accessible, with no prior knowledge or experience required.

Learning to organise and act together.

Throughout the series, we've embedded practical community-led organising skills that participants can draw on to imagine resilient futures together.

  • Imagine possibilities — Explore different ways communities could live, care, share resources and make decisions.

  • Learn together — Exchange experiences, perspectives and practical approaches to collective organising.

  • Recognise what already exists — Identify local knowledge, relationships, strengths and community-led initiatives.

  • Explore alternative pathways — Work backwards from possible futures to identify what would need to change and what could begin now.

  • Take first steps — Identify achievable actions, potential collaborators and opportunities to continue working together.

We're currently piloting Future Making Workshops in Australia.

Do you want to become a community partner?

We're looking for community partners who shares our belief that communities already hold much of the knowledge, creativity and capability needed to shape different futures.

We're offering the pilot pro bono and are interested in working together to shape, deliver and learn from the first iteration of the series.

If this resonates with your community or organisation, we'd welcome a conversation about what we could make possible together!

Please reach out to us directly at hello@futureswemake.com to request the in-depth pilot proposal for potential community partnerships.
